There's nothing like a bond between a grandparent and their grandchild, even if that child has his granny's "nerves wrecked."

Sian Thomas, 21, lives in Northern Ireland and is mom to 3-year-old Archie.

Her mother, Elizabeth, 49, was recently looking after Archie in her home when the toddler took the opportunity to explore outside—causing Elizabeth to sprint down the street after him.

"My son loves being outside and would get any opportunity to do so," Thomas told Newsweek. "He's always trying to sneak out."

A clip of Archie and his grandmother has gone viral on TikTok, as it showed the little boy taking his chance to go on an adventure when Elizabeth's back was momentarily turned.

In the video, posted on Thomas' @sian_thomas02 account on June 12, Elizabeth can be seen taking out the trash, in footage captured by a Ring doorbell camera.

Unbeknownst to her, Archie has followed her outside, and he rushes out the front gate and down the street as she's busy securing the garbage in the bin.

Elizabeth acts fast, running down the street after him, but Archie is faster, leaving her in his wake as she shouts, "Stop, stop, stop!"

"He sneaked out very quietly behind her and got down the steps. She didn't notice until she heard his footsteps," Thomas said, adding, "He then started running down my mum's street very fast."

Thomas said she was "very shocked" when she saw the video, noting that he was "so quick" at 3 years of age.

"He does keep her on her toes constantly," she said.

The special relationship between children and their grandparents is well known, as a 2023 YouGov poll found that 69 percent of respondents in the United States felt it was "very important" for grandparents to have a close relationship with their grandkids.

In the same poll, 39 percent said their grandparents had been "very influential" in their lives, with 33 percent saying they had been "somewhat influential." Similarly, of the grandparents surveyed, 43 percent said their grandchildren had been "very influential" in their lives.

TikTok users were in pieces at the clip, which Thomas captioned, "My son has his granny's nerves wrecked."

"She gets louder the further she runs," one user wrote. Another couldn't get over how fast Archie ran, asking, "Was that the real speed of him?"

"He's going to run for the olympics," another said, while one parent shared their own story: "My little one used to do this anytime the door was open. She used to climb out the window too!"

"I think she wanted him to stop. Just a wild guess, might be wrong," a commenter added.

Thomas told Newsweek she didn't expect the video, which boasts more than 10,000 likes and 118,000 views, "to blow up the way it did." Instead, she had expected only "a few likes and comments."

She added, "People keep commenting and reposting it still!"
