A Missouri dad has melted hearts by sharing a to-do list made by his young daughters, and he told Newsweek how one particular instruction was putting him under pressure.

Posted on the Family & Friends channel on Reddit, Matt Ward, 36, explained that the list replaced the usual "honey do" left by wife Rachael.

"My wife had always made the good ol' "honey do" list on a sticky note or piece of paper hanging on the fridge. You know, the normal 'fix the door on the shed' or 'put up new shelf in girls' room' type of stuff," said the father of two.

Since the couple have had some work to do around the house, Rachael thought it would be a good idea to order a dry erase board for efficiency.

However, things took an adorable turn when Ward's daughters, Katie, 10, and Emily, 7, spotted it and added a list of their own.

In no particular order, Ward's new tasks were: Be a happy daddy, do daddy things, get cupcakes (a small arrow below also instructed "for no reason") and be very very funny!

"When it showed up, my wife started making it my normal to-do list and then they [his daughters] saw it and asked if they could make it their own version of a to-do list for me," Ward told Newsweek.

The father of two said that his daughters thought he did enough work and wanted to make a fun list for him.

"They are always drawing pictures or making cards for me for when I get home [from] work.

"The best part of my day is coming home and getting big hugs from my girls," Ward added.

At the time of writing, Ward's post has received more than 7,000 upvotes and over 100 comments.

One user, who shared that their husband died earlier this year, urged Ward to "buy the damn cupcakes." They commented: "I'm crying buckets over here. My husband died in January and he left myself, and our two kids. My daughter (7) talks about him all the time and she misses him."

Another Redditor wrote: "Should. Not. Have. Read. This. Post! You … broke my heart!".

Speaking to the reaction on Reddit, Ward told Newsweek that he thought the list was "incredibly sweet."

"It's been very cool to see so many people respond positively to it," he added, and he said it was worth posting it if it made someone's day.

In another post on Reddit, Ward shared that he had in fact followed through with the cupcakes-for-no-reason request.

Speaking to the relationship that he has with his daughters, Ward said being a dad to two girls is "the greatest."

"We go on all kinds of adventures together and have lots of fun.

"I will say though I feel a lot of pressure from that list. I mean, I have to be "very very funny" not just a little funny," he joked.
