The internet has fallen head over heels for a dog's sweet gesture toward a foster puppy.

Pet parent Katie, who is known on TikTok as @fosterpup_tales, and her dog Junie are no strangers to welcoming home fosters. She fosters animals through The Animal Pad of San Diego. While Junie has never been a dog mama, she enjoys spending time with the foster dogs and puppies who come into Katie's care.

"My dog, Junie, who is a rescue as well, has helped me foster over 40 puppies the last few years," Katie told Newsweek via TikTok. "She just loves them."

The May 27 TikTok video especially grabbed people's attention as Junie acted as a "stand-in mama" to a one-pound Malitpoo—a crossbreed of a Maltese and a toy or miniature poodle—puppy. The foster puppy Fergie was only there for a few days before she was off to her forever home. However, the temporary time didn't stop Junie from jumping into mom mode.

Junie sweetly stayed by Fergie's side as they played outside. She rolled over on her back exposing her stomach, a communication sign to other dogs that she was not a threat. She also didn't care that the puppy grabbed onto her collar and fur with her mouth.

The caption reads: "Oh junie girl, the best foster sister/auntie/mama on the planet."

Fergie immediately felt comfortable and wasted no time to reciprocate the feeling. Constantly sniffing, she followed Junie around like it was her actual mom. She paid no attention to Katie. She was focused on her new dog bestie.

With both tails wagging, it was clear they both felt comfortable. Fergie even gained the confidence to start playing with Junie. And knowing the size difference, Junie stayed calm, not wanting to overpower the tiny pup.

"She's never been a mama, but she loves when I bring home puppies solo so she can have access," Katie said. "When I have a mom and litter, she has to keep her distance quite a bit more as to not step on the mama's toes."

Junie Fans

TikTok viewers were obsessing over Junie and her natural and gentle instinct to look after the tiny foster dog. As of Tuesday, the clip reached over 65,900 views, 13,300 likes and 168 comments.

"Omg your dog is such an angel. And I can't handle the end," said a viewer, while a second commented: "Junie you're an ANGEL, you are so loving and caring mom."

Another added: "She understood her assignment."

Someone pointed out: "Omg the way Junie is like, 'Don't worry, look I'm so smol you can feel safe with me.'" Junie knew how to make the dog feel comfortable without overwhelming her.
