The internet has been moved to tears after the moment a cat returned after going missing for several days was captured on a doorbell camera.

TikTok user @adamscottmateo went into panic mode one morning after he realized his cat wasn't responding to breakfast time. Usually, his cat is very talkative, begging for food, but that morning was eerily quiet.

"I searched the house, and he was nowhere to be found," the owner told Newsweek via TikTok. "That's when I checked my Ring and I could see him just sitting outside waiting after [my roommate] came in the house."

His roommate stepped outside at 2 a.m. and left the door open. She hadn't realized Oscar followed and when she returned inside, she shut the door leaving him out. The cat rarely goes outside even if the door is wide open, which made this incident unusual. The Ring camera captured the moment the cat wandered away from the house.

The owner's world shattered. The days dragged on with no sign of Oscar. But, finally, after four long days, he heard a faint and familiar meow. Oscar returned home and their reunion was filmed by the Ring camera, which he shared in his July 30 TikTok video.

The footage showed the owner immediately turning around when he heard Oscar's meow. He called for Oscar and moved toward the sound of the cat's meows.

"I actually stepped outside to take a photo of something on the patio, that's why I was getting my phone out in the video," he explained. "I heard the faintest meow in the distance, but I recognized my boy immediately."

An instant feeling of relief washed over him. He continued to call Oscar's name until his cat eventually crawled out of the bushes. Adam picked him up immediately, never wanting to let go of his fur baby again.

"He was filthy, almost looked like he had gone down someone's chimney, but beyond that he luckily wasn't injured at all," he said. "I am just so happy to have him back home!"

As of Tuesday, the TikTok video amassed over 1.2 million views and 167,700 likes. Viewers flooded the comment section, celebrating the reunion.

"Glad he made it back home safe," said one TikToker, while another added: "It's a horrible feeling when you can't find them. So glad he's home."

Others think Oscar won't try escaping again as a viewer pointed out: "He says, 'I'm NOT for the streets I repeat NOT for the streets.'"
