This week, we have seen a dog upstage a bride at her wedding and a neighborhood's canine-only pool day.

We have also enjoyed receiving pet pictures and videos from Newsweek readers for our weekly Pet of the Week lineup.

If you have funny pictures, videos and stories about your pet, be sure to follow the instructions at the end of this story to see if they will be in next week's Newsweek Pet of the Week.

This week's Pet of the Week winner is Jeda, a 9-year-old bulldog with a real love for life—and particularly playing on the beach.

An ongoing health issue has meant that she hasn't been able to enjoy her favorite activities for a while, but she has recently recovered well enough to get back to her beloved beach.

"Due to an ongoing eye issue, she was drugged up and unable to do her favorite things for three months. She underwent a diamond burr debridement on her birthday," Jeda's owner Mikey Harris told Newsweek.

A diamond burr debridement is used to treat corneal ulcers. Under heavy sedation or general anesthetic, a veterinarian will remove damaged tissue, helping to stop any pain and preserve vision in pets with eye ulcers.

Most animals go home the same day, and when Jeda was feeling better, it was little surprise what she did next.

"When she recovered, the first thing she wanted to do was go to the beach," Harris said.

Despite now being senior in years, Jeda still plays like a puppy, and brings joy to her owner all the time. "She is definitely the light of my life," he added.

Our first finalist this week is 6-year-old cat Posey who lives with owner A. Taylor-Miller. Weighing 27 pounds, Posey is a source of joy for the whole family, particularly Taylor-Miller's autistic son.

"He's a mama's boy," his owner told Newsweek, adding how she has had Posey since he was just 3 months old. Posey and her son share a special morning ritual of buttermilk biscuits, and the pet enjoys any cat food with gravy, along with small treats of ice cream and banana pudding.

Posey is also a protective presence in the home, known to block the stairs when Taylor-Miller's 18-month-old grandchild is walking around. Whether he is sleeping in a real bed with a pillow or demanding attention by knocking phones out of hands, Posey's personality shines through, and he is much loved by his family.

Next up this week is Maine coon Keno, who came as part of a "package deal" when Andrew Noyola Hill married his wife.

When they met, Keno was pretty protective of his mom and unsure of Noyola Hill being in the house. But things quickly changed: "Since then, he's warmed up and become my little big buddy," he told Newsweek.

Keno, also known as "Meow" because he never stops talking, has become a beloved companion. "I not only found the woman of my dreams, I found a buddy," said Noyola Hill. Now, both his wife and Keno are the loves of his life, and he is grateful for the package deal.

Last but not least this week is Cal, an 8-year-old Chiweenie—a Chihuahua and dachshund cross.

Happiest when he is with his people, Cal lives with owner Gloria Winter in Minnesota where he happily shares a home with his "cat brother and hooman."

"He loves to share his talent of being a good napper with anyone who has a lap or a couch to cuddle up on," Winter told Newsweek, sharing her favorite things about her beloved pet.
