A 4-year-old boy had his mom in fits of laughter with his hilarious reaction to the sight of a bucket full of freshly picked limes and a video of it has warmed the hearts of millions of viewers around the world.

The response to the post shared to TikTok by Brittany Hanson, from Los Angeles, under the handle @brittanylor_ is was initially lukewarm, not grabbing many people's attention. When it resurfaced, though, the views went through the roof.

"I think it got maybe 100 views on it," Hanson told Newsweek. "This year it popped up on my TikTok homepage as a "on this day" and I just reshared it."

The clip went viral this time around, much to the surprise of Hanson. "I never expected the video to be at almost 7 million views now, but I'm glad it's getting the attention it deserves," she said.

It certainly continues to make Hanson laugh. Filmed back in 2021, when Owen, now 7, was aged just 4, it reminds the mom-of-two of a different time and the lime tree they planted in the garden.

In the clip, Owen can be heard excitedly telling his mom that the fresh limes they have just picked are "ready to become margaritas."

Owen, then 4, reacts to his fresh limes. His response could not have been much cuter. Owen, then 4, reacts to his fresh limes. His response could not have been much cuter. @brittanylor_

"It was during the time when we spent most of our time at home still because of the pandemic. We were outside watering plants, and picking fruit," Hanson explained.

"When we first planted the tree, we told him it was to have limes for food, to make limeade, and mommy's favorite grown up drink 'margaritas.' He didn't know what the other ingredients for a margarita were, but that we needed lime. So we called the tree our margarita lime tree."

The fact Hanson was able to capture her son saying what he said was completely by chance. "When I started recording him, it was just to capture his cute voice talking and counting the limes," she said. "So when he said that at the end, I got a good laugh and saved it to show my husband."

Both Hanson and her partner were highly amused by his response and they aren't alone in that respect. The clip has had a similar reaction on TikTok.

"When life gives you limes, you make margaritas," one viewer wrote, with another commenting: "Your work is done. You've won at parenting." A third added: "This is poetic. This is Shakespeare. He IS Shakespeare."

Owen, however, appears nonplused. "He's not really aware of it. I've told him how many people have watched it, and he just laughs," Hanson said.

"We have made lots of fun videos together on TikTok, but he doesn't have any phone or internet access to see any of it. We just watch together, and I tell him funny comments people are making."
