When you're done grocery shopping, there's nothing better than tucking into some of the delicious treats you just bought. But when one Costco customer bit into the carrot cake he purchased, he was horrified by what was inside.
Harry Fletcher, 18, went to his local Costco in London with his dad when they purchased a box of six carrot cupcakes. They often buy the large carrot cake, but on this occasion, they decided to mix things up and try the cupcakes. He was soon left regretting that decision.
As Fletcher bit into one of the cupcakes, he was horrified to realize that large slices of carrot were in the sponge. Usually, carrots are thinly shredded and blended into the batter to add flavor without changing the texture too much, but Fletcher told Newsweek that the "huge slabs of carrot felt offensive."

Newsweek reached out to Costco via email and online contact form for comment.
Following the surprise, Fletcher shared a clip of "the most bizarre Costco cake ever" on TikTok (@harryfletxher), which went viral online. The video has already amassed over 2.3 million views and more than 212,000 likes as social media users were shocked by the revelation.
"We buy cake most of the time we go to Costco. We have had the large carrot cake before but never the cupcakes," Fletcher said.

"As I was eating one, I noticed that I had huge discs of carrot in my cake like you'd have on a roast dinner or something. Needless to say, as someone who loves carrot cake and has eaten it throughout my 18 years on Earth, I was disgusted by these carrots."
Fletcher wanted to be sure he hadn't just selected a rogue cupcake, so he checked the other five from the pack. He said that "every single cupcake" had large carrot chunks inside, too.

Initially, Fletcher only shared the clip on Snapchat but as many of his friends told him how funny it was, he decided to post it on TikTok, too. He never could have expected that it would generate this much attention. He even joked that he appears to have a future "reviewing the rest of Costco's cakes" from now on.
He told Newsweek: "I can't believe the reaction the video has received. I normally do makeup videos on my account, and I put a lot of effort into that, so to see a silly video of me being myself go crazy was surreal I was at work and my phone was going absolutely insane."
Since the clip was posted on September 6, it's received more than 1,600 comments on TikTok. Many were equally horrified by the discovery, while others shared similar experiences.
One comment reads: "Listen, I love carrot cake and I would be so mad!"
"That happened to me once, traumatic," a TikToker wrote.
Another person commented: "All the ones I got were like this. Carrot cake is my fav and I've not been able to eat any version for the past few months due to the fear it created having chunks of carrot."
