Swifties have been taken aback by footage emerging from Taylor Swift's ongoing Eras Tour as the singer is now performing in broad daylight.

Most obvious in last week's Scottish dates, the bright sky during the shows has stirred curiosity among fans who are more used to seeing her perform after dark.

Consisting of 152 shows across five continents, the tour commenced on March 17, 2023 and has already seen her play across the U.S., as well as in Australia, Asia, Mexico, and South America before arriving in Europe in the Spring.

The record-breaking Eras Tour is now beginning in the U.K. where a distinct difference in the sky can be attributed to geographical variances in sunset times.

"What it's actually that weird seeing it during daylight?" said Viktoriaaaa on TikTok after watching footage of Swift during her Edinburgh show.

"It's giving Disney ride with the lights on," agreed Priscilla. "Feels illegal to see behind the scenes."

While the sun typically sets between 7:30 pm and 9:00 pm in most of the U.S. during the summer, the U.K. experiences later sunsets, with twilight lingering until around 9:00 pm to 10:00 pm and later during the summer months. This difference arises from the U.K.'s higher latitude, affording it longer daylight hours due to the tilt of the Earth's axis.

With the summer solstice, marking the longest day of the year in the U.K., swiftly approaching on June 20, concert-goers at Wembley Stadium, London, where she is set to play on the 21, 22 and 23rd of June, are in for a unique experience.

Despite Swift's performances being scheduled to start at around 8:00 pm each night, attendees can anticipate over an hour of daylight spectacle, courtesy of the stadium's open-air design.

As pictures and footage of the open-air British shows circulated on social media, people continued to react to seeing the show unfold before nighttime.

"Seeing the midnights era during daytime is DEFINITELY illegal," one Swiftie said. While another wrote: "Watching a show during the day is a crime RIP."

Others shared concerns about upcoming shows: "Is the whole show gonna be in daylight still? I'm worried about my London show in a few weeks!" said one commenter. While another said: "So glad I'm seeing her in August and at Wembley. I don't think I'd be able to handle the entire show during daylight."

Some have voiced concerns about the effectiveness of the concert's beloved light-up wristbands in daylight settings. Each Swiftie who secures a ticket to the Eras show is greeted with an LED wristband upon arrival, which is synchronized to illuminate in tandem during her performance.

The spectacle of lights has become emblematic of the Eras Tour experience, contributing to its immersive visual effects. The transition to open-air venues in the U.K. presents a unique challenge for Swift's production team. Unlike the controlled environments of indoor venues like the Arlington AT&T Stadium or Paris La Défense Arena, where atmospheric conditions can be managed, more outdoor and open air settings leave the show at the mercy of the elements.

For most Swift fans, though, the surroundings aren't too important. Before reaching the halfway point of its 152 shows, the record-breaking production last year became the first tour to break the $1 billion barrier.
