From a cat that started "barking" because he was raised by dogs to a canine that got hold of his owner's passport just days before her international flight, we've seen plenty of great viral animal videos this week.

We've also been collecting our favorite pet pictures and videos for our Newsweek Pet of the Week.

If you want your pet to be part of next week's lineup, follow the instructions at the end of this story.

The Winner

This week's Pet of the Week is Darla, a 20-pound, energetic terrier mix.

"She is darling," owner Marcia Sullivan, who adopted her just six months ago, told Newsweek. In the video she sent, Darla shows off her excitement on a walk as she leaps and jumps through the grass while on the hunt for baby rabbits.

"She is crazy for baby rabbits right now, and that's what she is hunting in this video," Sullivan said, dubbing it "Darla's dance."

Terriers are renowned for their strong hunting instincts and prey drive, traits stemming from their original breeding for hunting and controlling vermin. So it's no surprise that Darla is eager to hunt rabbits.

Thankfully, the canine didn't catch any rabbits, but her enthusiasm is evident in the hilarious video of a happy rescue dog.

The Finalists

The first finalist this week is Jasmine, a senior rescue dog who lives with owner Deedren O'Connor.

"We adopted her two years ago from a foster mom who worked for the SPCA," O'Connor told Newsweek.

Despite being in a loving home now, Jasmine still suffers from PTSD at times.

"She still occasionally has PTSD moments, but we reassure her we are here," O'Connor said. "We are very blessed to have her in our life."

Next up is 4-year-old sheepadoodle Harley, who lives with 2-year-old goldendoodle friend Lizzie.

While Lizzie loves nothing more than snuggling up on the couch during movie time, Harley would rather pick the movie and has a unique enthusiasm for action movies.

"She tries to 'save' the people who are being attacked on the screen," owner Cindy Jessett told Newsweek. The family has even had to put a gate around the TV to prevent Harley from knocking it down.

But Cindy and Mark love watching Harley's reactions to movies and said it was "another great source of amusement" for them.

Sekani is always getting up to some mischief. Sekani is always getting up to some mischief. Zoé

Finally, there is Sekani, a 2-year-old cat whose antics never fail to amuse his owner, Zoé.

"Sekani likes to do crazy things which I find extremely funny," Zoé, who declined to give her last name, told Newsweek.

In pictures shared by his owner, Sekani can be seen sitting inside a Burger King bag—perhaps looking for leftovers—and relaxing in the drum of a washing machine that was awaiting installation.

His playful spirit delights his owner, and he is aptly named, as the name Sekani means "laughs" in Egyptian.
