Cats aren't typically known to enjoy the water, but there is always an exception to the generalization and one couple quickly learned their rescue kitten was all for getting wet.

When friends of Brittany Barkasi and her husband discovered an orange kitten in a van's engine, the couple jumped at the opportunity to take home the little kitty. But they quickly learned this cat wasn't like most. He didn't want space. He wanted to be by their side no matter where they were.

In an August 9 TikTok video posted to the account @oddlyspecificacres, Barkasi was in the shower when she heard a meow coming from the other side of the door. Dougal their 16-week-old kitten usually meows at the shower door, Barkasi told Newsweek via Reddit messaging. However, she was curious what would happen if she opened the door.

Dougal's face perked up as his chance to explore a new territory finally arrived. But the meows continued as if he was telling her that he waited long enough. Barkasi grabbed her phone sitting on the ledge of the shower door to film "evidence" as Dougal jumped into the shower with her since it was such bizarre behavior for a cat.

The caption reads: "Dougal insisted on joining me in the shower."

Dougal took his time in the shower, looking around and sniffing the different products. He even hopped up on the ledge completely unfazed that water was pouring down on him.

"Since the video my husband and I have tried again and he's come in again, but only a couple steps," she said. "He hasn't charged in like he did in that video."

This cat's behavior is quite unusual since most cats will do anything to avoid getting wet, Newsweek previously reported. Historically, cats are descendants of desert dwellers and therefore didn't adapt to water.

However, as Dougal has shown, not all cats hate water. Savannah, Bengals, Maine Coons and Turkish van cats are breeds known to be more adventurous when it comes to water.

What Did Viewers Say?

The hilarious TikTok clip reached over 2.1 million views and 277,600 likes within four days of getting posted.

"He's making sure you don't DROWN! You are forever safe with orange energy," commented a viewer, while a second user joked: "Orange cat behavior can never be explained."

Dougal isn't the only cat curious about their owner's showers. One person said: "My cat does this. He loves to come in then lurk behind the clear curtain."

Another added: "Nah, because mine is that age and does this all the time. Then gets mad as soon as water hits her while I'm trying to rinse."
