A dad's celebration marking the end of a decadeslong career has delighted viewers on TikTok.

In the clip—posted by his daughter Eloise—Jamie MacPherson, 66, arrives home from his final day as a financial adviser and strips down to shorts and a floral shirt before tossing his suit into the flames.

MacPherson, who recently retired after 32 years of advising clients in the Cotswolds, a region of central-southwestern England, celebrated the end of his working life in a way he will never forget.

"Wearing a suit has been a constant throughout my career, so this felt like a fitting tribute to the end of one chapter and the beginning of another," MacPherson told Newsweek.

To plan for this momentous occasion, the dad from southwest England said that he had spent the last year visiting clients to ensure they would be "well-taken care of" once he stepped away from the role.

MacPherson's ceremonial burning was not his first symbolic farewell either: "It was reminiscent of when I burned my school cap upon leaving school nearly 50 years ago," he added.

Having started school at an early age and begun working at 17, MacPherson said it is the first time in his life he has been truly free.

Eloise's video has been viewed almost 20,000 times, with other TikTok users sending their well-wishes. MacPherson told Newsweek that the orchestration of the video was a family effort.

"My son Callum filmed and edited the ceremony, my wife Carole chose the music, and my daughter Eloise shared it on TikTok," adding that she has been amazed by the reaction on social media.

"My grandsons, Louis and Fin, were highly amused by their 'silly granddad'," MacPherson added.

Many TikTok users were inspired by MacPherson's way of marking the end of a long and fulfilling career: "My dad says thank you. He's going to do that to his uniform after over 35 years in khaki," one commenter wrote.

"Entering retirement in pure style," another posted.

As for MacPherson's retirement plans, he is looking forward to a life filled with new adventures in the next chapter of his life.

"I'm looking forward to plenty of holidays, learning to play the ukulele, diving deeper into my passion for family history, and enjoying my love for backgammon," he told Newsweek.
