A dad's way to stay cool while on vacation in Italy has become a viral sensation on social media.

The parent's inventive travel hack—which saw him convert the long pants he was wearing into cargo shorts—was captured by his daughter, Lauren Cosier. She is known online as @laurencosier and shared the candid moment, which had occurred in an Italian airport, to TikTok on June 9.

Viewers were able to see Cosier's father stripping the bottom half of his Decathlon pants off to make way for a pair of knee-length summer shorts—a practical move designed to match the significantly warmer climate that the two Britons had landed in.

An overlaid text on the video read: "Dad just stepped off the plane in Italy, his removable trouser bottoms are straight off."

The father-daughter duo had traveled from the U.K. to Naples for a summer getaway, bringing the amusing hack along with them. Their vacation destination, located in Italy's southwestern Campania region, attracts millions of domestic and international tourists per year.

Known for its sweltering heat and long walking routes, Cosier's dad knew exactly what he would need to wear to enjoy his surroundings.

"He was chuffed," his daughter wrote under the post.

Internet Users' Reaction

Cosier's video has gained widespread attention on TikTok, with some of its 620,000-plus viewers cheering on her dad's resourcefulness and sense of humor.

"This is peak travel dad behavior and I love it," one user, @s.r.faith, commented.

Another, @chlxecreates, added: "No but this is iconic behavior."

"He's well chuffed with himself," a third user, @ravensimmonds, shared.

Another, @thorthordachshund, posted: "I travel with leggings under a dress for a similar effect. Not as a smooth transition as this."

The smooth transition was aided by the fact that Cosier's dad's pants had been designed to be shortened when needed, with both ends being held together by a khaki zip.

Naples' average daily maximum temperature can reach 89.6 degrees Fahrenheit, and with the summer travel season in full swing, Cosier's dad's practical approach to beating the heat is sure to inspire others to think outside the box. Since it was shared to TikTok two days ago, the clip has been liked by more than 75,000 users. It is Cosier's most-viewed post to date.
