For many children, calling their parents in the middle of a sleepover to come home is a rite of passage. One man made sure his daughter's experience was never forgotten.

A video posted to TikTok by @daytodai_ has gone viral after revealing the enthusiasm with which the poster's husband picked up their homesick daughter from a sleepover in the middle of the night. Since it was posted on August 5, the video has received over one million views and over 185,000 likes, with many praising her husband for creating a "core memory" for his daughter.

"She was at her very first best friend's sleepover. It's 3:30 AM and couldn't sleep without us. Called her daddy and he ran to the rescue to bring her home for some cuddles," the creator wrote in the caption. "Daddy's girl for life."

"Daddy had to wake up for work at 5:30 AM. Truthfully, he couldn't sleep without her home and jumped up as soon as she called. Then they decided they needed some 'night snacks,'" she wrote.

The video shows the creator's husband and daughter walking into a grocery store hand-in-hand for the nighttime provisions.

People in the comments echoed the nostalgia of this experience, with many saying they will never forget the fear—and relief—of being homesick at a sleepover and calling their parents.

"One time I went to a sleepover, and I was hysterically crying while everyone slept and I was so nervous I didn't even want to move. My mom had a feeling and showed up at 11:00 PM just to make sure I was okay," @kmotw wrote.

"I once stayed the night at a friend I met while my family was camping, couldn't sleep in their tent so wandered through the dark campsite trying to find my parents camper," @cheliann03 wrote. "My dad opened the door and hugged me saying he couldn't sleep and was worried about me. It has always been a core memory and that was about 15 years ago."

"She's going to remember this," @angelia018 wrote. "Core childhood memory."

Others who didn't have such an experience weighed in, too, thanking the video creator's husband for his compassionate approach. People in the comments highlighted that not all parents would come running in the middle of the night so willingly—especially if they had to be up in two hours.

"Thank you for not being mad at her," @jlossmallbagofchips wrote.

But @daytodai_ said that they could never be mad. In fact, hearing from their daughter, who they also missed on her first night away, was a welcome surprise.

"You don't even know. He jumped up and had his slides/outfit ready like the first day of school running out that door," she wrote in the comments about her husband's behavior when he got the call.

"One thing about this man, he's not letting his girls be alone at night anywhere," she wrote. "He loves us! And when his baby girl calls, he's running!"
